Salvia aegyptiaca L. is a herbaceous plant. It produces stems that grow in an erect to ascending form. Its leaves range from oblong to linear-elliptic in shape, have a slightly wrinkled (rugulose) texture, and feature serrated edges. The species forms inflorescences that are simple racemes, which are sometimes branched. Bracts are present on the plant, and its corolla is blue-violet in color. This species occurs naturally in the Cape Verde Islands, Canary Islands, northwestern and northern Africa, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Arabian peninsula, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India.
