The Orinoco saltator, also called the Orinocan saltator, has the scientific name Saltator orenocensis Lafresnaye, 1846. It is a species of saltator placed in the family Thraupidae. Its range includes Venezuela, specifically in areas west, north, within the Orinoco River region, and along the Caribbean coast; it also occurs in border regions of adjacent northeast Colombia, and on the eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.
