About Salix aurita L.

Salix aurita L., commonly known as eared willow, is a willow species that grows across much of Europe, and is occasionally grown in cultivation. It takes the form of a shrub that reaches up to 2.5 meters tall. It can be told apart from the similar, slightly larger species Salix cinerea by its reddish petioles and young twigs. The species received its common name from the persistent kidney-shaped stipules that grow along its shoots.
