About Sagittaria filiformis J.G.Sm.

Sagittaria filiformis, commonly known as threadleaf arrowhead, is a perennial aquatic plant that can reach a maximum height of 170 centimetres, which equals 67 inches. It produces two distinct forms of leaves: one type is thread-like, and grows entirely underwater, while the other is narrowly ovate or lanceolate, and floats on the water surface. This species is native to the eastern United States, distributed from Maine in the north, southward to Florida and Alabama. In the northern portion of its native range, Sagittaria filiformis grows in flowing streams. In the southern part of its range, it is found in more stagnant water bodies, including marshes and swamps.
