About Sagittaria engelmanniana J.G.Sm.

Sagittaria engelmanniana J.G.Sm., commonly called Engelmann's arrowhead or acid-water arrowhead, is a perennial aquatic plant that can grow up to 70 centimeters (28 inches) tall. Its leaves are sagittate, meaning they are arrow-shaped, and each leaf has 3 very narrow lobes. This species is native to eastern North America. It has been recorded in every state bordering the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean from Mississippi to Massachusetts, as well as in Vermont and the Canadian province of Ontario. It grows in wetlands, most commonly in wetlands with acidic water such as Sphagnum bogs.
