About Sagina apetala Ard.

Sagina apetala Ard. is a species of flowering plant in the family Caryophyllaceae, commonly called annual pearlwort and dwarf pearlwort. It is native to Europe, and has been introduced to other regions including parts of North America. It grows in many types of disturbed habitat, for example cracks in sidewalks. This species is a petite annual herb that produces a threadlike stem just a few centimeters long, which can grow either spreading or erect. The plant is glandular and somewhat hairy. Its leaves are linear in shape and no longer than about one centimeter. The inflorescence consists of a solitary flower that grows on a threadlike pedicel. The flower usually has four sepals, and most often has no petals.
