About Sagephora phortegella Meyrick, 1888
Sagephora phortegella Meyrick, 1888 is a species of moth belonging to the family Tineidae. It was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1888, and is endemic to New Zealand. This species has a wingspan ranging from 8 to 13 mm. Its forewings are an ochreous-white shade, with the dorsal half marked by suffused streaks of whitish-ochreous. A thick blackish streak runs along the costa from the base to three-quarters of the forewing, gradually dilating along its length, ending in a pointed apex, and having a slight projection on its lower margin before the middle. An irregular blackish line is sometimes present below the middle of the forewing; this line runs from near the base parallel to the inner and hind margins, all the way to the apex. A second almost identical almost marginal line runs along the inner margin to the anal angle, then continues as a hindmarginal streak to the apex, where it joins the first blackish line. Other occasional markings include a defined narrow blackish streak along the inner margin, and a moderate blackish hindmarginal fascia that becomes thinner towards its ends. The hindwings of this species are most commonly grey or whitish-grey, and are only rarely a darker shade of grey.
