About Sagenosoma elsa Strecker, 1878

Sagenosoma is a genus of moths that belongs to the family Sphingidae. This genus contains only one species: Sagenosoma elsa, commonly known as the elsa sphinx moth. This species is found in the southwestern United States (including Arizona, western New Mexico, southern Utah, and southern Colorado) and northern Mexico. The forewings of the elsa sphinx moth measure between 23 and 38 millimeters in length. Adult elsa sphinx moths are active from mid-April to mid-August, and they produce either one or two generations per year. Larvae of this species have been recorded feeding on Lycium pallidum.
