About Rytidosperma tenuius (Steud.) O.E.Erikss., A.Hansen & Sunding
Rytidosperma tenuius, commonly known as purplish wallaby grass, is an Australian species of wallaby grass. It occurs naturally in southeastern Australia, typically growing on clay or sandy soils in drier eucalyptus woodlands. This perennial grass can reach up to 1.2 meters in height. It is native to the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, and has been introduced to New Zealand. Its inflorescences have a characteristic reddish colour, and the attractive purplish bracts of its young flowers also help identify the species. The specific epithet tenuius comes from the Latin word meaning thin.
