Russula amoenolens, commonly called the camembert brittlegill, belongs to the genus Russula. This mushroom has a greyish-brown cap with distinct notching along its edge. It is inedible, but is well known for its distinctive odor that resembles camembert cheese. It typically grows under oak trees, and fruiting occurs from summer through autumn. This species is mainly distributed across Europe, but has also been recorded in the United States, Costa Rica, Morocco, and New Zealand.
