About Rumex skottsbergii O.Deg. & I.Deg.
Rumex skottsbergii O.Deg. & I.Deg. can be identified by its green, narrow, compact inflorescences, erect growth habit, and small leaves. Its stems are typically stiffly erect, 7–10 decimeters long, and glabrous. Additional identifying features include unisexual flowers, medium-sized yellowish-green branched inflorescences, and outer tepals that are a distinguishable trait within the genus Rumex.
This species is distributed in Hawaii, where it grows well at low elevations in open lava fields.
Rumex skottsbergii was used for medicinal purposes, to treat a childhood disease called pāʻaoʻao that causes physical weakening, and to treat constipation.
