Scientific name: Rumex arifolius All. Common name: Maiden sorrel. Rumex arifolius can grow to a height of 70–120 centimetres (28–47 inches). This species produces large, fleshy leaves with entire leaf blade margins. Inconspicuous white flowers and seeds grow in long clusters at the top of a stalk that develops from a leaf axil. The flowers are dioecious and anemophilous, and they bloom from May through June. Maiden sorrel is native to southern Europe and parts of northern temperate Asia. This species grows best in pine forests and mountain meadows, at elevations between 200 and 700 metres (660–2,300 feet) above sea level.
