About Rubus lineatus Reinw.
Rubus lineatus, also known by the synonym Rubus pulcherrimus, is a semi-evergreen shrub in Rubus, the genus that includes raspberries and blackberries. It is native to eastern and southern Asia. Its native range includes Xizang and Yunnan in China, Bhutan, Sikkim in northeast India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, and northern Vietnam. This species is cultivated as an ornamental plant for use in temperate climates. It spreads via suckering stems. It can reach a maximum height and spread of 4 meters, or 13 feet. It produces large, attractive palmate leaves with a contrasting white underside. Small white flowers bloom in spring and summer, and these are followed by red or yellow ornamental fruits that ripen in autumn. Full sun exposure is required for its fruits to ripen. The Latin specific epithet lineatus, which means "lined" or "striped", refers to the deep veining of its leaves.
