About Rostanga crawfordi (Burn, 1969)

Rostanga crawfordi is a species of dorid nudibranch. Its body colour ranges from pale orange-yellow to orange-pink, and its dorsum is covered in small structures called caryophyllidia. This species was first scientifically described from Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia, and it is only known to occur in the Australian states of Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. In its ecology, Rostanga crawfordi is found living on the red sponge genus Psammoclema, and it is assumed to feed on this sponge. Psammoclema is currently classified within the sponge family Chondropsidae. Most other species belonging to the genus Rostanga feed on sponges from the family Microcionidae.
