About Rosa sherardii Davies

Rosa sherardii Davies, also known by the synonym Rosa omissa, is commonly called northern downy rose or Sherard's downy-rose. It is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Rosaceae. This shrub grows to a height of 2 meters (7 feet). It is native to cooler regions of Europe, and has been introduced to Vermont, a U.S. state. When grown in gardens, it prefers a sheltered location with full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It is more compact than Rosa tomentosa, and specifically its grey-leaved form is considered to be under-represented in cultivation.
