Rioraja agassizii, commonly known as the rio skate, is a species of skate that lives in shallow waters. It is native to the Atlantic coast of South America, ranging from Brazil down to southern Argentina. This species is the only member of the genus Rioraja, making the genus monotypic. It was named to honor Louis Agassiz, a zoologist and geologist.
