Ribes rotundifolium Michx. is a North American currant species, commonly called wild gooseberry and Appalachian gooseberry. It is native to the eastern United States, occurring primarily in the Adirondacks, ranging from Massachusetts through the Appalachian Mountains south to South Carolina and Tennessee. This species is a shrub that grows up to 150 cm (5 ft) tall. It produces cream-colored, pinkish, or pale green-pink flowers, and dark blue or dark purple berries. The berries are sweet and tasty.
