About Ribes diacanthum Pall.

Ribes diacanthum, commonly known as the Siberian currant, is an Asian currant species. It is native to northeastern Asia, including parts of Russia, Mongolia, Korea, and the northeastern Chinese regions of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Inner Mongolia. The species has also become sparingly naturalised in the Canadian province of Manitoba, after escaping from an agricultural experiment station near Brandon in the 1940s. It is a shrub that grows up to 2 meters (80 inches) tall, and is dioecious, meaning it bears male and female flowers on separate individual plants. Its flowers are yellow-green, and it produces spherical red fruits that are reported to have a good taste.
