About Rhytisma punctatum (Pers.) Fr.

Rhytisma punctatum (Pers.) Fr. is a fungus species that belongs to the family Rhytismataceae. This fungus causes a disease called speckled tar spot on maple leaves. The spots it produces are small, black, and raised above the leaf surface. These spots grow in dense clusters on the upper surface of maple leaves. Infected areas of the leaf keep their original color, even when the rest of the leaf has faded.
