About Rhynocoris punctiventris (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1848)

Rhynocoris punctiventris, commonly called the spotted assassin bug, is a species of assassin bug that belongs to the Harpactorinae subfamily. This species has an eastern-Mediterranean distribution range, and has also been formally recorded in Romania, Armenia, and Ukraine. As a member of the order Hemiptera, the group known as true bugs, Rhynocoris punctiventris has beak-like mouthparts adapted to suck liquid from plants or other insects. Little is currently known about the specific diet of this species. Based on feeding habits documented for other species in the Rhynocoris genus, it is inferred that R. punctiventris are generalist predators that feed on both plants and various insects.
