Rhynchospora ciliaris, which bears the scientific name Rhynchospora ciliaris (Michx.) C.Mohr, is commonly called fringed beaksedge. It is a member of the sedge family, Cyperaceae, and grows as a perennial herb. This species is found in wetlands across the southeastern United States, ranging from New Orleans to Morehead City. It reaches an approximate height of 36 inches, and typically grows in bogs, seeps, or depressions located within open pastures or pinelands. It produces dark brown spikelets that bloom between May and November.
