About Rhynchopsitta terrisi R.T.Moore, 1947
The maroon-fronted parrot (scientific name Rhynchopsitta terrisi R.T.Moore, 1947) is a large, mostly green parrot. Adults measure 40–45 cm (16–18 in) in length and weigh 390–470 g (14–17 oz). Adult individuals have a dark maroon brow that extends over the edge of bare yellow skin surrounding the eye, and a brighter red patch at the bend of the wing. Their tail is long and pointed, and the underside of the wings is blackish. Juveniles have a pale beak and whitish eye-rings, and do not have the dark maroon stripe over each eye. This species is endemic to the Sierra Madre Oriental in Nuevo León, Coahuila and Tamaulipas, Mexico. It inhabits mature pine, mixed conifer, and pine-oak forests located between 2000 and 3500 meters in elevation.
