Rhynchodemus sylvaticus belongs to the genus Rhynchodemus. All species in this genus share distinct morphological characteristics. Members of Rhynchodemus have elongate bodies that taper at both ends, with an oval or round cross-sectional shape. The creeping sole covers nearly the entire ventral surface of the body, and the anterior end of the body holds two large eyes. In the copulatory apparatus, the male atrium contains a large chamber lined with folded epithelium, and no penis papilla is present.
