About Rhodanthe manglesii Lindl.

Rhodanthe manglesii Lindl. is a herbaceous daisy species native to Western Australia. It was introduced and cultivated in England in 1834, grown from seeds collected by James Mangles. Its common names include pink sunray, silver bells, Australian strawflower, timeless rose, and Mangles everlasting. The flower head is yellow, surrounded by pink or white florets. These flowers grow from nodding, silver-colored, papery bracts that form bell-like buds between August and October in the species' native habitat. The plant has a slender, erect growth habit, reaching heights between 0.1 and 0.6 meters. It often forms dense carpets over areas of sandy, clayey, or loamy soil. This species was first formally described by John Lindley in 1834, published in the Botanical Register, with an accompanying illustration created by Sarah Drake.
