Rhizomnium glabrescens (Kindb.) T.J.Kop. are upright, unbranched, unisexual plants. Their stems are naked, shiny, and grow up to 3 cm high, bearing large leaves. Male plants have large, rose-shaped leaf clusters at their tips, while female plants produce capsules. This species is very common on rotting logs, humus, and soil covering rocks in low- and middle-elevation forests. It is the most common species of leafy moss found in low-elevation forests.
