The adult white-spotted fantail, Rhipidura albogularis (Lesson, 1831), is approximately 19 cm (7.5 in) in length. It has a dark, fan-shaped tail edged in white, a white supercilium (eyebrow) and a white throat. Its upperparts are mainly slate grey, with a black eye mask. The underparts are whitish, and it has a grey breast band marked with white spots.
