About Rhipidura albicollis (Vieillot, 1818)

The adult white-throated fantail (scientific name Rhipidura albicollis (Vieillot, 1818)) is approximately 19 cm (7.5 in) in length. It has a dark, fan-shaped tail edged with white, plus a white supercilium and white throat. Plumage varies considerably between different subspecies (races). Most races are similar to the Himalayan subspecies R. a. canescans, which is primarily slate grey on both its upper and lower body, with a black eye mask, white throat, and white eyebrow. In India, one local Assamese name for this bird is Nasoni sorai.
