About Rhinopomastus cyanomelas (Vieillot, 1819)
Adults of Rhinopomastus cyanomelas weigh roughly 35 grams and measure 26 cm in length. Adult individuals have black beaks, while juveniles have grey beaks. Females and juveniles have more brown coloration on the front of their bodies. This species feeds almost entirely on insects that live behind tree bark, which explains the evolution of its probing beak.
