About Rhinella ornata (Spix, 1824)
Rhinella ornata, first formally described by Spix in 1824, is a species of toad belonging to the family Bufonidae. It has been confirmed to live in Brazil, and may also be found in Argentina. Its native natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, and intermittent freshwater lakes. This species currently faces threats from habitat loss. Rhinella ornata can interbreed with its sister species Rhinella crucifer, producing the distinct hybrid species Rhinella pombali.
