About Rhinella humboldti (Gallardo, 1965)

Rhinella humboldti, commonly known as Rivero's toad, is a species of toad belonging to the family Bufonidae. Its known distribution covers Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad, and the Guianas. This species was originally classified as a subspecies of Rhinella granulosa, under the scientific name Bufo granulosus humboldti. Rhinella humboldti is an abundant species. It is generally a terrestrial toad that inhabits lowland plains, savannas, and dry forests. It can move into deeper forest areas by following existing roads and lumber tracts. On the island of Trinidad, this toad occurs in cane fields, rice fields, and other open agricultural areas. Its breeding occurs in both temporary and permanent ponds.
