About Rhinella castaneotica (Caldwell, 1991)

Rhinella castaneotica is a toad species that belongs to the Bufonidae family. Confirmed records of this species come from the Amazon Basin in specific regions of four South American countries: Pando in Bolivia, Amazonas, Pará, and Rondônia in Brazil, Amazonas, Caquetá, and Putumayo in Colombia, and eastern Peru. It is likely that the species has a broader range across the upper Amazon Basin. Its natural habitats are tropical moist old-growth lowland forests. It lives on the forest floor, and breeds in both Brazil nut capsules and temporary pools. No significant threats to this species are currently known.
