Its native territory includes the entire Mediterranean basin, covering Algeria, the Balearic Islands, Crete, the East Aegean Islands, Egypt, France, Greece, Libya, Morocco, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, and Tunisia, and stretches eastward to include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Iran.
