About Rhadinosticta simplex (Martin, 1901)

Rhadinosticta simplex (Martin, 1901), commonly known as the powdered wiretail, is a medium-sized damselfly. Adults reach a total length of 40 millimetres (1.6 inches). This species has a very long, slender abdomen that extends well past the tips of its wings. It has green eyes, a narrow reddish antehumeral stripe, and narrow broken pale green markings on the sides of its thorax. The top of its abdomen is entirely black, while the sides of the abdomen are distinctly pale green. In Australia, this damselfly has been recorded across a range extending from near Cooktown in Queensland to Melbourne in Victoria. It inhabits areas with thick tea-tree vegetation growing alongside slow-flowing sections of rivers.
