About Rhacostoma atlanticum L.Agassiz, 1851

This species, Rhacostoma atlanticum L.Agassiz, 1851, has the following morphological characteristics. Mature medusae grow to 30–40 cm (12–16 in) in bell diameter; the bell height is 3 to 4 times smaller than its width. Individuals found in northern waters are typically transparent, while specimens from more southern locations have a pink tint. The broad stomach gives rise to 80–100 non-branching radial canals. Tentacles are slightly more numerous than radial canals, and each tentacle has an elongated conical bulb.
