About Reticulitermes speratus (Kolbe, 1885)
Reticulitermes speratus, commonly known as the Japanese termite, is a species of subterranean termite. It is found in Japan, North Korea, and South Korea. This termite feeds on decayed wood, and is adapted to tolerate the cold temperatures of the temperate regions it lives in. The complete mitochondrial genome of one of its subspecies, Reticulitermes speratus kyushuensis, has been sequenced and documented.
