About Resapamea passer Guenée, 1852
Resapamea passer, commonly known as the dock rustic moth, is a species of moth belonging to the family Noctuidae. Its scientific name is Resapamea passer Guenée, 1852. This moth is distributed in the Rocky Mountain region, ranging from central Alberta to northern Arizona. In the mid-continental area of North America, its range extends from Minnesota and southern Ontario south to Oklahoma and North Carolina. It also reaches the Atlantic Coast from Newfoundland to Maryland. Its preferred habitat is wetlands. The forewings of this moth measure between 15 and 19 mm in length. The larvae of Resapamea passer feed on plants from the Rumex genus, and possibly also feed on species from the Polygonum genus. The larvae bore into the stems and roots of their host plants.
