Renealmia cernua (Sw. ex Roem. & Schult.) J.F.Macbr. is a plant species that belongs to the ginger family Zingiberaceae. This species was first formally described in 1931 by botanist James Francis Macbride. Its native geographic range extends from Southeastern Mexico to Southern Tropical America. This species typically produces juvenile inflorescences at the start of the dry season. It flowers from the late dry season through the entire rainy season, and its fruits mature between the middle and late rainy season. In Colombia, Renealmia cernua is used to treat snakebite, along with other Renealmia species including R. alpinia, R. aromatica, and R. nicolaioides.
