About Raorchestes beddomii (Günther, 1876)
Raorchestes beddomii is a small species of frog. Males of this species reach a snout-vent length of 16–23 mm (0.63–0.91 in), while females grow to 23–30 mm (0.91–1.18 in). Most of their dorsal surfaces, including the back, dorsal sides of the forelimbs and hindlimbs, and the loreal and tympanic regions, are nearly uniformly green. Their iris is reddish brown. Size and colouration vary between different populations; individuals from the Munnar population are larger and have lighter colouration than other populations. Raorchestes beddomii occurs in moist forest patches, wayside vegetation, and tea plantations. It has been recorded in the Western Ghat Mountains, at elevations between 120 and 460 meters above sea level. When calling, males typically perch on leaves around 1.5 meters above the ground. The species is not directly threatened, but its total known distribution area is small.
