About Rana italica Dubois, 1987
Description: Adult Italian stream frogs (Rana italica Dubois, 1987) have a head-to-body length ranging from 7 to 7.5 cm (2.8 to 3.0 inches). Their hind legs are long, but not extremely elongated. When the hind leg is pressed forward alongside the body, the heel (tibio-tarsal articulation) does not extend past the snout. Pearly-colored granules are present on the ventral surfaces of the hind legs. Habitat: The natural habitats of Rana italica are rivers, intermittent rivers, swamps, freshwater marshes, and intermittent freshwater marshes.
