About Rana amurensis Boulenger, 1886

Adult Rana amurensis have light brown smooth skin, irregular dark brown and yellow stripes, and a body length of 2 to 2.5 cm (0.79 to 0.98 inches). This species is distributed across western Siberia, northeastern China, northeastern Mongolia, the northern Korean Peninsula, and Sakhalin. It occurs at latitudes up to 71° N, making it the northernmost wild amphibian species. It favors lowland areas and is rarely found at elevations over 600 m. It is a habitat generalist that prefers open ground, but can also be found in both deciduous and coniferous forests. During winter, it hibernates on the bottoms of ponds.
