About Quiscalus niger (Boddaert, 1783)
This species, the Greater Antillean grackle (Quiscalus niger (Boddaert, 1783)), shows size and physical differences between males and females. Males measure 27 cm (11 inches) in length, have glossy black plumage, and a large, rudder-like tail. Females measure 24 cm (9.4 inches) in length, have a smaller tail, share the same black base color as males, but are less glossy. The only non-black body part is the yellow eye.
