About Quercus tarokoensis Hayata

Quercus tarokoensis is an oak species. It is a tree that is endemic to eastern Taiwan. It grows on calcareous, or limestone-derived, soils within evergreen forests, frequently occurring on steep slopes at elevations ranging from 400 to 1,300 meters. This species was first formally described by Bunzō Hayata in 1918. It belongs to Quercus section Ilex, and is closely related to Q. bawanglingensis, a species native to Hainan.
