About Quercus gilva Blume

Quercus gilva, commonly called the red-bark oak, is a tree species belonging to the beech family Fagaceae. This species is classified in Quercus subgenus Cerris, section Cyclobalanopsis. Naturally occurring populations of Quercus gilva have been recorded in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and southeastern China, specifically the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan, and Zhejiang. It is a tree that can reach 30 meters (98 ft) in height, with orangish-brown twigs. Its leaves may grow up to 12 cm (4.7 in) long.
