About Quercus geminata Small

Sand live oak, scientifically known as Quercus geminata Small, is a ubiquitous and abundant evergreen species that grows in coastal Florida's evergreen oak scrub. The threatened Florida scrub-jay lives exclusively in the Florida scrub habitat where this oak is found. Inland, live oaks grow that have characteristics of both sand live oak and southern live oak (Quercus virginiana).
