Quercus coccifera L. is most commonly a shrub growing less than 2 metres (6 1⁄2 feet) in height. It rarely grows into a small tree, typically reaching 1–6 metres (3 1⁄2–19 1⁄2 feet) tall. Specimens reaching 10 metres (33 feet) tall have been recorded in Kouf, Libya.
