About Quercus championii Benth.

Quercus championii Benth. is an uncommon tree species belonging to the Fagaceae family. It is classified in the genus Quercus, subgenus Cerris, section Cyclobalanopsis. This tree grows up to 20 meters tall, with a trunk that can reach 100 cm in diameter. It has grayish-brown twigs, and its leaves can grow up to 13 cm long. The species has only been recorded growing in Taiwan and southern China, specifically in the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Yunnan. It was formally described based on plant material collected in Hong Kong by John George Champion.
