This oak is native to Baja California, a state in northwestern Mexico, and this native range includes Cedros Island. It has additionally been recorded growing in San Diego County, California, United States. Quercus cedrosensis is considered vulnerable to habitat loss, which is caused by goat overgrazing and overlogging.
