About Pyrops spinolae (Westwood, 1842)

Pyrops spinolae (Westwood, 1842) is a species of planthopper, sometimes called the dark-horned lantern-fly; its Vietnamese name is ve sầu đầu đen. This species is named in honor of Maximilian Spinola, who was the authority that established the genus. This lantern bug has been recorded to occur in India and Indochina. Pyrops condorinus, found in southern Thailand, was once classified as a subspecies of Pyrops spinolae.
