About Pyrausta bicoloralis Guenée, 1854

Pyrausta bicoloralis, commonly called the bicolored pyrausta moth, is a moth species that belongs to the family Crambidae. This species was first described by Achille Guenée in 1854. It is distributed across the Americas. In North America, it has been recorded ranging from Nova Scotia in the north, south to Florida, and west to Michigan and Texas. In the southern portion of its range, its distribution extends into South America. The wingspan of adult bicolored pyrausta moths measures between 14 and 19 mm. Adults of this species have a distinct yellow and purple color pattern. Adult moths are active in flight from June through September each year.
