About Pygarctia roseicapitis Neumoegen & Dyar, 1893
Pygarctia roseicapitis, commonly known as the red-headed pygarctia moth, is a species of moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Berthold Neumoegen and Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1893. It can be found in Mexico, and in the United States it occurs from southern Arizona to Texas. The forewings of adults measure between 14 and 17 mm in length. Adult moths are active and can be seen in flight from May through September each year. The larvae of this moth feed on a variety of species in the Euphorbiaceae plant family, including Chamaesyce hyssopifolia. When larvae are fully grown, they reach a length of roughly 30 mm.
